Harefield Gymnastics Academy gymnasts competed excellently at the World Age Games and World Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships in Poland.

Connor and Millie returned as 11-16 World Champions, after taking the gold medal ahead of a strong field. The pair led the competition from the outset and qualified in the top spot. After performing a text book perfect balance routine in the final, the judges were impressed enough to award the young pair the gold medal and prestigious title.

A week later our senior womens group, Claire, Grace and Robyn performed excellently in their routines, with only the fact that another GBR trio finished ahead of them in qualification keeping them from the individual finals. The girls finished in a respectable 5th place after the three routine qualification rounds. As part of the Great Britain Team, the girl's qualification was just as important, and with stunning performances from all members of the team, mens four and mens pair, they were awarded the Team Silver medal.

A fantastic display of talent from the club and proof that HGA is going from strength to strength.

More National Titles for Harefield
Jun 1, 2010, 5:17 pm

Some of our young acrobats wowed judges at the recent NDP British Championships in Stoke-On-Trent bringing back two more British titles to the club.

Jessica Gordon-Brown from Harefield and Georgia Baker performed their energetic Grade 2 Womens Pair routine with precision to take the gold medal and title of British Champions. Ryan Bartlett and Ellis Jacobson showed off their talent for acrobatic gymnastics, by scoring the highest technical score and joint highest artistry of the competition to take the gold in the Grade 2 Mixed Pairs and another National title for the club.

The club’s Grade 1 Womens Pair Michaela Cook and Jessica Keys performed a near-immaculate routine, impressing the judges and national coach, but after a mistake at the end of the routine missed out on a medal position.

NDP coaches, Sarah Robertson and Keri Llewellyn were delighted with the success of their gymnasts. Sarah said: “It is fantastic to see the gymnasts gaining National success for their hardwork, they really deserve the titles.” Keri added: “The whole London Gymnastics team performed excellently and Harefield Gymnastics Academy lead the way.”

The result tops off a successful year for the whole club, which has added regional, national and international trophies to the cabinet.

Harefield Win Bromley Invitational
May 11, 2010, 5:27 pm

The NDP Gymnasts from Harefield Gymnastics Academy won the Bromley Invitational confidently, with both teams finishing in medal places and taking trophies for highest scores.

The 'A Team' of Grade 1 Womens Pair, Umber and Sofia, Grade 1 Womens Group, Francesca, Hannah and Suzanna, along with Ryan and James tumbling for the team won the overall team trophy, with both floor partnerships taking the highest score trophies for the whole competition.

The 'B Team' came a close second, made up of Sanmari and Mialara at Grade 1 Womens Pair and Kathryn, Trudie and Brodie competing as a Grade 1 Womens Group. The tumblers, Sophie and Liam performed really well and showed their tumbling potential to the region.

Ryan took the silver place for overall score of the day, and Sophie did well in her first tumble competition to take the bronze.

Harefield's NDP gymnasts again proved their talent within the region, a great sign for the future.

Europe-Wide Success for Harefield Gymnasts
May 5, 2010, 12:46 pm

In one weekend gymnasts from Harefield Gymnastics Academy represented London Gymnastics two teams which dominated at two competitions on different sides of the continent. Our FIG gymnasts won the overall team event in Bulgaria whilst the Prep and NDP gymnasts took gold at the Inter-Regional event in Southampton. An outstanding total of 18 medals were won by Harefield gymnasts in one weekend.

Natasha and the FIG gymnasts beat the infamous ‘Ash Cloud’ and travelled to Bulgaria whilst Keri, Sarah and Ciara stayed closer to home (and on dry land!) to take their junior squad members to Southampton for the Inter-Regional Finals.

At the International Mayor’s Cup, held in Samokov, Bulgaria, the Age Group, Junior and Senior partnerships from various clubs across London had a chance to impress international judges from Europe at the event, which is fast becoming a popular competition for top European acrobatic clubs. Two partnerships from Harefield Gymnastics Academy, who were recently crowned British champions and both selected for the World Championships in Poland also took gold in all of their routines in Samokov. Both the Age group Mixed Pair Connor Bartlett and Millie Spalding, and Senior Womens Group, Claire-Louise Thompson, Grace Blacklock and Robyn Birch are now in a good position ahead of the competition in Poland.

Our Junior Womens Pair, Rachael Prest and Laura Jarrett competed for the first time together and gained a respectable 4th place and helped the Junior London squad win team bronze.  Olivia Bell and Poppy Spalding, who are currently out of age domestically, competed as seniors in Bulgaria and also won gold in all three of their routines, a fantastic achievement for the pair.

Meanwhile, in Southampton the young Prep and Grade One partnerships from Harefield gymnastics Academy showed their own talents by beating teams from across England to the team gold.  Gymnasts from Harefield made up the majority of the team, after qualifying at the regional championships in March.

Individually our partnerships shone, especially in the Grade One Womens Pair category, with the podium being dominated by Harefield gymnasts in gold and silver positions. Sofia and Umber took the top spot, with Kathryn and Brodie close behind in silver. We also had two partnerships on the podium in the Grade One Womens Groups, this time swapping medal colours with Hannah, Frankie and Suzanna taking silver and Sofia, Sanmari and Umber taking bronze. This only proves the strength and quality of all our partnerships, that their biggest rivals are their teammates!

In the Prep level, Sanmari and Mialara took gold in the Womens Pairs, whilst Charlie and Connail were awarded the gold in the Mens Pairs. Our Prep B trio performed excellently, but Melissa, Josie and Megan finished 5th after a small error cost them a medal place. Prep Mixed Pair, Charlie and Cheyne did well to finish 4th in their second competition together. James and Johnny, our Grade One Mens Pair, were placed 4th overall in a surprisingly tough category.

Judges and coaches from other regions complimented all our gymnasts on their professionalism on and off the floor and their support for everyone else.  Taking the team event gold, ahead of the other regions is an excellent achievement with such strong competition. This and the achievements of the FIG gymnasts in Bulgaria made for a very successful weekend for both Harefield Gymnastics Academy and London Gymnastics as a whole.

Connor Bartlett, another student at The Academy, and his partner Millie Spalding wowed the judges with their performance to take the gold medal and British title, despite being the youngest pair in their Age Group category.

Both partnerships are now set to be selected for the Great Britain team at forthcoming World Championships, to be held in Poland in July.

Our out-of-age pair, Olivia Bell and Poppy Spalding were able to 'Guest' at the event, gaining valuable competition experience together ahead of their push at Senior Womens Pairs later this year when them come into age. They show fantastic potential, and are sure to take control of the category next year.

Harefield Prep Gymnasts Dominate
Mar 23, 2010, 7:43 pm

Young gymnasts from Harefield Gymnastics Academy dominated at the London Preparation and Novice regional championships on Sunday 28th February.

The club won every category we entered, including womens groups, womens pairs and mixed pairs. Three of the gymnasts, Mialara Coleman, Megan Maxwell and Charlie Malin, all attend Harefield Junior School and two gold medal winners, Sanmari Roberts and Josie Cook are Year 7 students at The Harefield Academy.

The competition was held at Goresbrook Leisure Centre in Dagenham, and for many of the competitors it was their first ever performance in front of judges, coaches and a full crowd of parents. All the gymnasts have now been selected for the London Team at the Inter-Regional finals held in April in Southampton.

Gymnasts, some only 7 or 8 years old, showed an excellent standard of gymnastics, and paints a bright picture for the future of acrobatic gymnastics at the club.
